Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine that helps with pain, inflammation, circulation and tissue healing.

Cupping involves placing cups on the part of the body you’re treating in order to lift the fascia (that’s the connective tissue beneath the skin that surrounds every part of your body, from organs to muscles to blood vessels) which increases blood flow, flushes out stagnant fluids and toxins, and breaks down adhesions and scar tissue. Cupping also engages the parasympathetic nervous system to promote relaxation, digestion, and balance.

While there are 2 forms of cupping treatment (dry and wet) I only offer dry cupping at Ravenstone for safety reasons. Don’t worry, despite the name, topical oils, gels or lotions are commonly used during dry cupping treatment to help reduce friction between the cups and the skin. And while I don’t use the traditional fire cups preferred by Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners (again, for safety reasons), my mix of acrylic and silicone cups offer better control and achieve the same results.
